The Top Banner
Promote your biggest competition with a banner above your header. Text, link, visibility toggle.
Updated 22 June 20263 min read
The top banner is a single strip above your site header. Best used sparingly for time-sensitive messages — a draw closing tonight, a flash promo, a one-time announcement.
Where to edit
Raffle admin → Marketing → Top banner. Three fields: banner text, optional banner link, visibility toggle. Saves to tenant_config and renders immediately.
Three rules for banner copy
- Specificity beats hype.“BMW M4 closes Sunday 9pm” beats “Massive draw ending soon!”.
- Emoji at the start. 🔥 🏆 🚨 — single emoji lifts banner click-through ~10–15% in our testing. More than one emoji looks spammy.
- ≤ 80 characters on desktop. The banner truncates on mobile — front-load the headline so the urgency reads even if the rest cuts.
Five banners that converted
- 🚨 Final 12 hours — BMW M4 draws Sunday 9pm
- 🎁 Free £5 site credit for every customer this week
- 🏆 Just paid out £4,200 in instant wins this month
- ⚡ Flash promo: use code LAUNCH10 for 10% off, ends midnight
- 🎄 12 days of Christmas — new prize every day
When to turn it off
After the event passes, immediately. A banner advertising a draw that already happened reads “this site isn’t maintained” — the opposite of trust signal. Set a calendar reminder if you can’t check in.
